From 25 June to 9 July 2018 five UiB Masters level students will attend a winter (summer) school in Durban, South Africa. The school is organised by the School of Built Environment and Development Studies (SOBEDS) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) as part of its regular programme of courses. The students will be granted scholarships offered in the framework of the CROP/UiB-UKZN “Partnership for Poverty and Sustainable Development Studies”. They will have the chance to follow two courses related to the Masters Module in Development Studies: Political Economy of the Welfare State and Poverty and Sustainable Development.

The winter (summer) school in Durban is the result of CROP’s engagement in a project-related co-operation with the Department of Health Promotion and Development (HEMIL/UiB) during the second semester of the UTFORSK project. Indeed, the five selected Master students come from the Department’s Global Development Theory and Practice (GLODE) Masters Programme. This project is in fact targeting students on this type of programme on the basis that the content of such programmes coincides with the target field of the educational cooperation and epistemic community the project is aiming to create and sustain.
