Lecture by Dr. Sithembiso Myeni, UKZN

South Africa is currently experiencing developmental challenges in the post-apartheid era. The convergence of power and conflict threaten a legitimate long-term vision to structurally transform South Africa’s economy, eradicate poverty, and reduce inequality and unemployment.

This seminar will examine the dynamics of contemporary post-apartheid South Africa in order to understand the visible manifestations of power and conflict. Fresh ideas will be presented relating to the continued use of power by the political elite in order to control and manage conflict, whilst trying to avoid individual responsibility and accountability.
